  • Hi Maureen along with 2 nurse colleagues I run 3 singing groups in Edinburgh called The Cheyne Gang and they're aimed at people who have long term respiratory conditions that adversely affect breathing. Many long term conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) lead to depression and anxiety as the debilitating physical symptoms have an effect on mood, sleep patterns and can lead to social isolation. We have seen a marked improvement in our attendees anxiety and mood. Music and singing are just the bees knees when it comes to helping physical, mental and social health. Good luck with your campaign The Cheyne Gang wholeheartedly support you goals.

  • Fantastic idea, music has been my lifetime over the years and has got me through the darkest days when there was no support from mental health services. Good luck xxx

  • What a brilliant idea. I've always strongly believed that music is therapy. In our house as the children grew up there was always music. We all loved singing playing instraments. Now my son's are all musicians & we still have a singsong in the house when we get together. If I don't know how I'm feeling I know there will always be a song for it.

  • What a fantastic idea - I could put my headphones on and shut out the world. I'm not very good at reaching out for human support, but music might be a very good alternative.
